DutyWheel is a shift calendar for police officers and firefighters whose year is already decided by a rotation pattern. Instead of entering every day by hand, you pick the pattern, Kelly, 48/96, 24/48, Pitman, 4 on 4 off, 5-2 and others, mark the day your cycle started, and point at the row that matches your crew. The whole year fills in. Around the calendar sits the record-keeping the job produces: overtime with hours and category, court dates with a conflict warning, shift swaps with who owes whom, and a monthly summary. The app makes no network requests at all.
The Schedule tab shows twelve months at once as a grid of duty and off days, with totals underneath: days in the year, days on duty, days off. Three taps get you here: the rotation, the day the cycle started, and the row that matches your actual shifts. There is no account to create and nothing to configure first.
Tap a day and log overtime, a court appearance, or a swap. If a subpoena lands on a duty day, the day shows the conflict. If it lands the morning after a night shift or a 24-hour tour that began the previous day, DutyWheel flags that too, with the hours between your shift ending and the appearance, because walking into court on no sleep is a conflict even when the clock says otherwise.
The Monthly log pulls the month together: days worked, hours worked, overtime hours by category such as held over or callback, court appearances, and where your swap balance stands. Share the summary, or export the year to a calendar file that includes your shifts, overtime, and court days.
Real rosters drift. A traded day, a training block, a vacation week: edit just those days and they sit on top of your pattern as overrides. The rest of the year stays put, and any edited day can be flipped back to the original rotation later. A single covered shift never means rebuilding the year.
Overtime is logged in seconds: hours, a category, and an optional note attached straight to the day it happened.
Court dates carry the conflict warning above, and the appearance time is kept with the day so the morning-after check can be made.
Swaps and paybacks record who covered for you and who you covered, and the balance is shown as hours owed to you or by you.
The monthly summary adds up what you logged. It does not calculate pay.
A duty roster reveals when your house sits empty. A court date tracker names cases you are tied to. DutyWheel has no server, no account system, and no analytics, and makes zero network requests; that is an architectural fact, not a policy promise. The Home Screen widget shows your next shift and never shows case details. Export to a calendar file happens only when you tap it.
